Principal’s Corner Message

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School. As the principal at EHMS, I am eager to provide our students with an optimal educational experience. EHMS is a California Gold Ribbon School and last year was given the distinguished title of California Honor Roll School for the collective performance of our students and staff. Diversity, strong instruction, and a loving atmosphere enrich Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School. We pride ourselves on getting students to learn today, so that they can lead tomorrow.

The transition to the Common Core has been a success. The curriculum that your students will be engaged in is aligned with the California Common Core State Standards.  Our staff is dedicated to making sure your students are prepared for the rigors of high school, college and potential careers, by equipping them with the 21st century skills needed to be successful in their future endeavors.  Our comprehensive site offers classes and programs such as Computer Technology, AVID, Leadership, Athletics, and Band, to give our students a well-rounded education, teaching them good study habits and self-discipline as well. The district’s Graduate Profile illustrates the standard level of accomplishment that we expect our students to possess as they graduate from our EGUSD schools. Our school will give students the opportunity to grow in the areas of problem solving, communication, self-awareness, technology, community engagement and character.

This year is going to be filled with excitement, learning opportunities and achievements. At EHMS, parent participation is highly encouraged. A guide to assist your student in their school endeavors this year will be posted in their EHMS Agendas. You will also find many useful tools on our school website and Parent VUE. Hope to see you soon!
