Oct 2008: Star Party!

sOn October 4, members of the Sacramento Valley Astronomical Society brought their telescopes and their expertise to share with Edward Harris Jr. Middle School students and parents.

The SVAS members began arriving a little before sunset to position their telescopes. Even though it wasn't dark yet, we were able to see some interesting lunar images.

Once it became dark, we were able to see the North Star (actually a binary star), Jupiter and the Galilean moons, and more,

The event was quite successful with people talking about it for days afterward. The NES team would like to thank everyone who attended and helped.
